The Samolet project is a corporate video about the construction company’s employees and how the skills they picked up at work have affected their everyday lives. Our task was to create animated inserts which offer an insight into the characters of the three individuals featured in the video: Alex, Sophie, Trevor.

Characters Development

Alex

‍

Alex is a skier who completes challenging long-distance marathons, so we wanted to make his animated insert as dynamic and sharp as possible, with active camera work and the use of unusual angles.

Sophie

‍

Sophie is a business analyst. Our job was to show how her analytical approach to problem solving helped her to choose a musical instrument. Sophie’s animated insert is more colorful and playful.

Trevor

‍

Trevor is a man on whom the entire construction process depends. It was important to reflect his key qualities – resilience, decisiveness, the ability to work as part of a team – in the animation.

A ship in a storm became a clear metaphor for his role within the company.

At one point, other Samolet members of staff appear in the video, and we also developed some animated prototypes for them to illustrate their hobbies – tennis, skydiving, detective investigations. In choosing the style, we sought to convey the character of the employee and their favorite pastime in the best way possible.

Backgrounds

‍

The style that was chosen helps to make the dynamic figure highly expressive, with the help of deformation. The character’s features and proportions are very realistic, but when moving, they become hypertrophied, emphasizing masculinity, strength and energy.
